The History of Savage Squadron

Savage Squadron is a family Squadron That means we have members who are young, old, male, female, able-bodied, or disabled, foreign and domestic. We never discriminate against anyone who wishes to play the game fairly, and who is considerate to the other members of the Squadron (family), and game players.

This is the principal on which Savage Squadron was founded in 1998 by S_Hunter1. S_Hunter1 and S_Scrouge formed Savage Squadron. Scrouge's wife, DOH_Jane was so impressed by S_Hunter1 that she joined the Squadron and quickly became the Recruiting Officer. She found S_Skull_27 who became the XO. She also recruited her brother S_PHEAR. Shortly after that they recruited S_IronEagle_3, S_RAH443, S_RustyDuck, S_Sturgis, and S_Betty_Ford. But, due to increased family obligations on S_Scrouge and his wife DOH_Jane, and an increased workload on S_Hunter1, the Squadron was handed over to S_IronEagle_3 and S_RAH445. (S_Skull_27 and S_PHEAR are no longer with the Squadron. They decided to stay in Fighter Ace version 1.5

S_IronEagle_3 is still the fearless CO and S_RAH445 is still faithfully at his side as XO. The other offices change hands from time to time, but the foundation remains strong. The members of Savage Squadron share a common interest in the game we call Fighter Ace. It is a game we play together over the Internet with people we will probably never actually meet. Even though the game brings us together for the time we decide to play it, the feeling of family the Squadron provides follows us wherever we go. That is a family Squadron, and that is what was, is…. and always will be SAVAGE Squadron.

Update 12-22-2003

In the middle of July 2003 our Squadron's Commanding Officer, Philip James Nuzzolo, passed into the merciful arms of God. What a blow to all who knew him or were effected by his life. He was a very public spirited individual and his life was spent in service to others. Through his guidance we have learned that Fighter Ace is more than a game and that Savage Squadron personified its objective as a family Squadron. His firm but evenhanded discipline could be seen in his good natured scolding of young, old, firm and infirm alike. He especially took pains to guide our younger members down a straight path. Phil had a generous spirit and spent of himself magnanimously. His health while the CO of Savage Squadron was never good and he passed through several crises during this time. But Savage Squadron was always his prime concern. Savage has never been the most skilled Squadron in Fighter Ace but it is one of its best. We have always maintained an honorable standing while others have forgotten its meaning. This honor was maintained by Phil. He has left some very large shoes that will be difficult or impossible to fill. We will always remember our fallen leader as S_IronEagle_3_COFM or simply Boss.

S_RAH445_COFM has taken over command of Savage Squadron and with the help of its new XO, S_ME_4809_XO, the legacy will continue.

Now as set forth by Savage Law, S_RAH445_COFM retires his command to S_ME_4809_CO in the November 2006 squadron elections and becomes S_Spike. S_Dodge_XO becomes the squad's Executive Officer, Savage Command remains strong.
